Fata Narrat: Short Stories

Haunted Nights

In the heart of the town, under the cloak of darkness, Emily and her friends gathered around a flickering campfire. The dilapidated mansion at the end of their street whispered tales of a wealthy family who vanished mysteriously decades ago. Tonight, they were determined to debunk its eerie reputation by exploring the abandoned house. As night fell, they ventured into the mansion through a creaking door, flashlights illuminating peeling wallpaper and cobwebs entangled in broken chandeliers. Strange whispers filled the air, and faint sobbing echoed from unseen corners. Suddenly, a cold wind extinguished their flashlights one by one. Panic surged as darkness engulfed them. Emily felt a hand touch her shoulder; she spun around but saw no one. Terrified, they tried to flee only to find themselves trapped within the maze-like halls. That night, Emily woke up in a cold sweat, the image of a spectral figure standing at the end of her bed hauntingly familiar. She knew deep down that the house had claimed another soul. A week later, the town was abuzz with rumors of unexplained lights and eerie music drifting through empty streets. The haunted mansion remained a mystery, its secrets buried in shadowy corners. Emily couldn't shake the memory of those cold, dark nights.
